Green Day Fan Shocks Billie Joe Armstrong by Playing Oasis Song Onstage

Published: July 1, 2025

A Green Day fan got more than they bargained for when they were invited onstage to play the guitar part for the band's iconic song "Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)" in Luxembourg on Monday, June 30. Instead of playing the correct song, the fan started strumming the opening chords to Oasis' "Wonderwall" - much to the surprise of frontman Billie Joe Armstrong.

The fan's bold move left Armstrong stunned, with the musician exclaiming "oh, f---!" as he realized what was happening. Despite the initial shock, Armstrong took the guitar back from the fan and politely told them "nice try" before finishing the song himself.

Oasis' Liam Gallagher, however, seemed to enjoy the unexpected twist, taking to X to comment that the fan's rendition of "Wonderwall" was the "best song of the night".

Fans React to the Unexpected Oasis Cover

  • "Today is gonna be the day that Billie takes the guitar away…" one fan joked on TikTok, referencing the lyrics to "Wonderwall".
  • "Bro was given the chance and he took it," another fan commented.
  • "Billie taking a bit to realise is pure gold," a third fan wrote of Armstrong's delayed reaction.
  • "This is the risk you take when you give someone an acoustic guitar... 8/10 times wonderwall will be played," another fan noted.

Green Day is currently on their international tour, with upcoming dates in North and South America. Meanwhile, Oasis is set to embark on their reunion tour, kicking off on July 4 in Cardiff.
