Miley Cyrus premiered her new film "Something Beautiful" at the Tribeca Festival on June 6, but the event was interrupted by hecklers who wanted to hear the star sing. The actress and singer, 32, was taking part in a Q&A session with producer Panos Cosmatos and co-directors and co-writers Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter when audience members started yelling at her to perform.
"We paid $800. Sing," one attendee screamed, as another later shouted, "We thought this was a concert." Cyrus ended up appeasing fans' requests to hear her voice, as she sang an impromptu a cappella rendition of "The Climb" - her popular tune from 2009's Hannah Montana: The Movie.
Cyrus' supporters came to her defense after videos of the moment went viral on social media. "She's so nice and patient. Those 'fans' are soooo rude and entitled. They should be ashamed," one user wrote, as another said, "She owes these people nothing. She handled this with such class and grace. Shame on them."
The incident occurred during the Tribeca Festival premiere of "Something Beautiful", which accompanies Cyrus' recently-released album of the same name. The film will be released in theaters later this month.
